With nearly half the season in the books, this year’s edition of the Edmonton Oilers sit dead last in the Western Conference. Despite one of the highest payrolls in the league, the team has been grossly inept in all phases of the game. More specifically, the Oilers have:

There’s an expression in horse racing and it goes something like this, “don’t go to the whip too early and too often!”
The inference is that when you do use the whip, you will usually get a that little extra kick from the horse that you might need down the stretch. [...]

With the seventh overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, the Chicago Blackhawks selected forward Jack Skille. He was an immensely talented young forward, and he was one of the top prospects available in that year’s class.
Skille had a history of winning, picking up a silver medal in 2004 and a [...]

The WJC U20s are well underway in Saskatchewan, Canada. Sweden have already hammered the Czech -Republic 10-1 in a surprisingly lop-sided fashion. Canada are not so surprisingly in the process of ripping apart the squad from Latvia (16-zip was the final).
In my review of the pre-tourney tilt [...]

With 15 of the 20 skaters selected for the Team Canada roster today, playing for teams from the Western Conference in the NHL…is it possible there was a slight bias from Steve Yzerman’s management team? And of the 5 Eastern Conference players, one is Chris Pronger who has [...]

The Dallas Stars began a crucial three game homestand last night at the American Airlines Center by defeating the league-leading Chicago Blackhawks, 5-4.
The fact that the game resembled the vacilatory nature of their season, was of little concern in the home team’s locker room.
The back and forth affair had much of [...]
