5 For Writing is THW’s daily cornucopia of hockey related headlines. If you have a link that you think should be here feel free to fill out the form at the bottom of the page and we’ll be sure to have a look.

- In case you haven’t heard the Vancouver Canucks’ Taylor Pyatt recently lost his 27-year-old fiancee in a tragic car crash in Jamaica. Here his teammates address the horrible situation.

- Ex-Red Wing Keith Primeau, who retired in 2006 due to scrambled brain syndrome, has decided to donate it to the Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy when he dies. There’s a joke in there somewhere.

- I completely forgot Brendan Shanahan was still around, let alone scoring goals. Good thing Puck Daddy didn’t.

- Mother Pucker declares the Edmonton Oilers dead. Is your team next?

- NHL Digest put together the Top 10 Most Popular Pieces of Hockey Equipment. You’ll never guess what number one is. Hint: Hockey wouldn’t be hockey without it.

- More proof that the officiating in the NHL is in need of a serious overhaul. Roughing? Are you serious?

- Diving has no place in hockey, especially when it’s done (repeatedly) by a goalie. Good Lord, that’s some ugly stuff.

- The Boston Bruins recently signed goalie Tim Thomas to a multi-year contract extension. Does that mean we have more of this to look forward to? Or possibly this? Oh goody.
