5 For Writing: Detroit Looks to Get It Together; Fighters Drop Bombs

5 For Writing is THW’s daily cornucopia of hockey related headlines. If you have a link that you think should be here feel free to fill out the form at the bottom of the page and we’ll be sure to have a look.

- And the understatement of the year goes to: Free Press writer George Sipple, who says the Wings look to get on track today when they play the Wild. Welcome to the conversation, George. Can I get you a coke?

- Our very own Jim Neveau put together a great piece documenting his take on the 5 best moments of the Chicago Blackhawks season. Please do check it out.

- Alexander Ovechkin scored his 55th goal of the season recently, and our buddy Reed over at Capitals Kremlin breaks down his chances of reaching 60. The guy is ace at math.

- Patrick Roy is reportedly eyeballing a head coaching job in the NHL. As a Wings fan I say this: Please, for the love of all that is good in this world, let it be with the Avalanche.

- The Goal Line Report poses some interesting questions that are just begging to be answered, like “Have the Montreal Canadiens finally righted the ship after a dismal February and early March? What have they done differently?” and “Is this the last hurrah in Minnesota for Wild head coach Jacques Lemaire? If so, where do you think he will end up coaching next? Why?”

- Questions and controversy abound as to why Kyle Palmieri was released from USA Hockey’s National Team Developmental Program last month, and opinions are split as to the effect that will have on his draft status come June.

- Zack Stortini and Rick Rypien dropped the gloves last night. Bombs were dropped.
