The Montreal Canadiens will play their 9th game of the season tonight vs the N.Y. Islanders.

While there are still many questions surrounding the Canadiens in this young season and the last week has brought more of the same.

Sergei Kostitsyn

While Sergei had attempted to demand a trade from Bob Gainey earlier at the start of the season it seemed that he in fact had gone to Hamilton and began to work hard under Guy Boucher.

But this last couple of days brought more drama for the Canadiens organization and Kostitsyn.

Sergei left the Bulldogs and was again temporarily suspended by the Montreal Canadiens. This however didn’t last as it was reported that after a meeting with Bob Gainey, Sergei again agreed to return to the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Couple that with the fact that Mario Langois wrote an article about an altercation between Kostitsyn and Gomez at a party…. and you have just pushed the drama meter in high position once again in Montreal.

Not like the organization needed it.

Marc-Andre Bergeron

While Bergeron is not Andrei Markov and will certainly not fill his shoes I believed (and still do) that he would help the team after they signed him.

Marc-Andre played his first game as a Montreal Canadien this last week and some hopes were high.

Then Bergeron was hit really hard by Colby Armstrong in the second period and I thought that was it for him. In case you missed it…

I thought for sure he was out with a concussion but he did return and finished the game. In the third period however, he dropped his stick in the defensive zone and it resulted in a Colby Armstrong goal.

Bergeron looked a bit lost after that hit… and who can blame him.

I’m hoping he’s fine as he’s in the lineup for tonight’s game. He should be able to help the offensive flow for Jacques Martin’s team.
