As long as the Lightning are able to retain the services of both Lecavalier and St. Louis, fans expect the team scoring to be a little lop sided. But what has the Bolts brude perplexed is that the majority of the goals from this presently playoff bound team aren’t coming from the french Canadian duo, not even close.
On November 10th the Tampa Bay Lightning organization, staying true to their commitment to the community, demonstrated their gratitude by extending a warm invitation to approximately 100 veterans and active duty service members by hosting a luncheon at the St.Pete Times Forum.
The AHL’s Toronto Marlies, in keeping with their dedication to the community, took to the ice Monday night at the Vic Johnston Community Centre in Streetsville Ontario giving their fans an experience they would not soon forget.
The Toronto Marlies saw their three game win streak come to and end Saturday as they were defeated 4-1 by the North Division leading Rochester Americans.
While the Toronto Maple Leafs (2-7-5) battled Friday night to stay out of the NHL’s bottom spot, the far more successful Toronto Marlies (6-3-1-1) found themselves fighting their own battle against the Lake Erie Monsters to stay out of the bottom slot in the AHL’s North Division.

Though Thanksgiving was nearly a month ago, Toronto hockey fans have a lot to be thankful for as we approach Halloween. If you are fan of Toronto’s NHL club, then you will know I am not talking about the stats.
Where does the difference lie between a team that does well both at home and on the road versus a team that can only succeed at home? No doubt this is the question Lightning head coach Rick Tocchet is asking himself at this very moment. His Tampa Bay team has had an impressive 2-0-1 record at home allowing only 8 goals, while holding a dismal 0-3-1 record on the road with an astonishing 19 goals against.
Last night’s truculence gave birth to tonight’s testosterone. The 5-3 Marlies loss to the Abbotsford Heat came amidst an apparent attempt to squash their seaon’s single game penalty minute record set the night before.
Dallas Eakins’ certainly had the Toronto Marlies firing on all cylinders tonight as they are the first to defeat the Abbotsford Heat, one of two new franchises to the AHL, in regulation time. A 60 minute battle that can not be described any better than “truculent” ended in a score of 3-1 helping the Marlies break a three game win-less streak.
The AHL Toronto Marlies fall victim to a four-goal second period to eventually lose 5-2 to the Rochester Americans in the first game of a home-and-home set with their cross-border rivals. This is the second time in as many games that the Maple Leafs AHL affiliate team has been scored upon four times in the second frame.
