On Tuesday, Vancouver Canucks’ general manager Jim Benning announced that team came to terms on one-year, two-way contract extensions with defenseman Andrey Pedan and forward Alexandre Grenier.

Pedan, 23, made his NHL debut with the Canucks during the 2015-16 regular season, playing in 13 games and registered 18 penalty minutes. The 6’5″, 217-pound Lithuania-born defenseman played a physical style during his brief time with the Canucks last season.

After being drafted by the New York Islanders with the 63rd pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Pedan was acquired by the Canucks in exchange for forward Alexandre Mallet and a third-round pick on Nov. 26, 2014. In 129 career regular season American Hockey League (AHL) games, Pedan has registered 15 goals, 50 points and 258 penalty minutes.
Grenier, 24, also made his NHL debut with the Canucks during the 2015-16 regular season, compiling 2 penalty minutes in six games. Grenier played in 69 games the Utica Comets (AHL), leading the team in assists (32) and points (48).

Grenier was originally drafted by the Canucks 90th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. A native of Laval, Quebec, the 6’4″, 211-pound forward has appeared in 208 career regular season AHL games, tallying 50 goals, 130 points and 172 penalty minutes.
