The Carolina Hurricanes lost more than a game Saturday night in Columbus as starting goaltender Cam Ward was injured inadvertantly by Blue Jackets captain Rick Nash.

At 7:25 of the first period, Nash came through the crease with the puck, was pushed and his right skate sliced Ward’s left leg. Ward was slow to get up, and when he did, it was with the help of a team-mate and the trainer. Left behind was a pool of blood that trailed him to the bench. He was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus where he stayed overnight. Carolina coach Paul Maurice said, “It’s a significant injury and all I mean by that is I don’t have any timeline, but there was a fair amount of blood on the ice”.

*Updated* Cam Ward underwent surgery late Saturday/early Sunday to repair a lacerated muscle in his left thigh. Aaron Portzline reports via Twitter that he’s still at Riverside Methodist Hospital as of late Sunday afternoon.

Wow, that is terrible. I hope he has a full recovery soon, the Canes need him. GO CANES!

Also, you spelled indefinitely wrong. I’m not saying, I’m just saying.

  2. Rick Gethin says:

    Thanx for the correction.
