The Toronto Maple Leafs announced earlier on Wednesday evening that defenseman Mike Komisarek’s season is now over. The rugged blueliner, who came over to the Leafs as a free agent from Montreal during the off season, injured his shoulder and has not played since January 2nd’s game against the Calgary Flames. Incidentally, Komisarek was named [...]
Injuries seemed to be the theme of the night for San Jose’s Defense when they faced the Chicago Blackhawks. In the highly touted game between the top two teams in the West physical play was on the menu.

Brendan Witt has been placed on the Injured Reserve by the New York Islanders, allowing them to reactivate Sean Bergenheim into the line-up. That means Brendan will be joining Jeff Tambellini in the press-box to watch the Isles take on the Detroit Red Wings tonight.
It’s kind of funny that Brendan Witt, a man who could [...]
The Blue Jackets forward, known for his energy and grittiness, dropped the gloves Saturday night with Anaheims’ Mike Brown. He’s not sure if his left hand was injured prior to the scrap with Brown or not. He left the game in the 1st period and did not return. It was announced on Sunday that [...]

In the waning minutes of the first period on Monday evening in Columbus, Rostislav Klesla was gathering in a puck at the blue line as St. Louis’ Barrett Jackman ploughed into, and then on top of him. Klesla lay on the ice for [...]
As many of us watched the replay Keith Ballard swinging his stick in frustration over an Ilya Kovalchuk goal at 8:54 of the first period, and inadvertently striking his own goaltender Vokoun in the head, horror stuck our minds in fear as we began to think what we might have just witnessed. Was Vokoun okay? [...]
It’s gotten to the point where it seems strange to hear positive news on the Pittsburgh Penguins injury front.
On Saturday night Evgeni Malkin returned to the team and helped the Penguins defeat the Boston Bruins in a thrilling overtime game.
Then, last night, Sergei Gonchar and Max Talbot made their returns to the line-up as well. A 6-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators likely isn’t the way they planned their returns, but the fact that they were on the ice was good news for a Penguins team that definitely needs it.
With early injuries and a rough schedule to contend with, the Flyers got off to a somewhat sloppy start. With five straight wins in hand though, things are definitely looking up for the orange and black.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are currently lacking a great deal of scoring power due to injury, but they’re not the only ones.
