The Blue Jackets forward, known for his energy and grittiness, dropped the gloves Saturday night with Anaheims’ Mike Brown. He’s not sure if his left hand was injured prior to the scrap with Brown or not. He left the game in the 1st period and did not return. It was announced on Sunday that he had fractured his left hand and would undergo surgery to repair it on Monday. After missing nine games recently due to a concussion suffered in Dallas, this was his third game back from injury. It’s anticipated that he’ll miss four weeks from this injury.

His grittiness and energy will, once again, be sorely missed by Columbus. While he was out of the line-up with a concussion, the Blue Jackets went 1-5-3. Columbus has no immediate plans to recall anyone from minor league affiliate Syracuse.
