In Marty we trust!

The more things change in Dallas, the more they stay the same…as in Marty Turco!

Turco, apparantly fully recovered from a flu-bug that bit him last week, turned in a stellar preformance.  The veteran keeper stopped 30 of the 32 shots he faced on his way to becoming the first star of the game.

Mike Modano’s blistering slap shot midway through the third period tied the game at 2 and it was vintage. Modano jumped all over a loose puck in the high slot and ripped one past a seemingly surprised Evgeni Nabokov and a stunned crowd at the Shark Tank.

So if you’re a Stars fan watching at home, although the team weren’t wearing their throwbacks, your memory may have been jogged with two mainstays like Modano and Turco leading the comeback.

Throw in seven year Star’s defensemen, Stephane Robidas’ first ever goal in the shooting contest, and Stars fans had a lot to be hopeful for in this gritty win on the road.

For some reason, we believe in Marty and so do the Stars. In fact, back-up, Alex Auld has lost 4 consecutive games dating back to Oct. 22nd, and has given up 17 goals during that stretch.

Considering the Stars were down 2-0 on the road, to a team that had won 8 of 9 heading into play last night, was even more remarkable. That type of comeback, more prevalent these days with all the rule changes, was particularly gratifying to Turco. “To grind out a win is obviously huge…there’s a lot to be content about.”

And a lot to believe in…
