This afternoon I was lucky enough to catch up with Capitals prospect Brett Flemming for a few minutes and ask him some quick questions on D.C., Developmental Camp, and movies.

Flemming, the 6′0″, 175 defenseman was selected in the 5th round (145th overall) in this year’s draft out of Missisagua of the OHL.  Brett is known as an offensive-minded ‘D’ man with a strong work ethic along with a terrific attitude on and off the ice.

ML: Have you ever been to D.C. before?  Any first impressions?

BF: No, this was my first time here.  I went on the tour [of D.C. with other Capitals prospects earlier this week] and it was not what I expected…It was nice [Ed Note: What are you trying to imply, Mr. Flemming?].  It was cool to see all the monuments in D.C.

ML: So far, what has been the biggest surprise for you at camp?

BF: Surprise?  Probably how nice all the guys are.  Everyone is really great to be around in the locker room.  All the Hershey guys are great.

ML: You play with a lot of energy and you are very physical, has Coach [Bruce Boudreau] asked you to tone it down at Camp?

BL: Oh no, [laughs] I don’t think so.  I just try to go all out.

ML: What’s it like playing alongside some the [OHL] guys you faced in league play last year?

BF: Well, I played against guys like [John] Carlson and [Stefan Della] Rovere.  It was fine I guess playing with them at camp, but when we get back to [OHL] league play, it will be war.

ML: What kind of music are you listening to these days?

BF: Uhh, pretty much anything…Alternative and Country.

ML: What’s the last movie you saw?

BF: (Moment of silence, followed by a huge grin).  The Hangover.

ML: And what did you think of it?

BF: Oh I loved it!  It was really good.

ML: Have you ever done anything like that before?

BF: [Laughs] Oh no,  I don’t think anyone has done that before.

ML: What types of goals have you set for yourself next year?

BF: Well I hope as a team, we can win our conference.  As for myself, I know I’ll set a personal goal for points but I have not really thought about it that much.

Brett was just sitting down to eat with fellow-prospect Patrick Wey as I finished up our quick chat.  The Capitals’ Development Camp concludes tomorrow morning with an intrasquad scrimmage at 10:30 AM.
