Kings Ink Joel Lowry to 2-Year Deal

The Los Angeles Kings have signed 23-year-old forward Joel Lowry to a two-year, entry-level contract, the team announced on Monday.

War on Ice has the details of the contract with the Kings’ 2011 5th round selection (140th overall).

Lowry just finished up his senior season at Cornell playing just 11 games, with four goals and four assists, before succumbing to a season-ending injury, for which he underwent back surgery.

Despite getting him under contract, it sounds like Lowry won’t be able to be at King’s training camp as recovers from the surgery, according to LA King Insider:

As LA Kings Insider reported in April, the Kings were on the verge of signing Lowry in the spring. The delay in getting him under contract was related to his recovery from back surgery, which could keep him off the ice in training camp.

In his sophomore year Lowry scored 12 goals and 11 assists in 33 games, following that up with seven goals and 17 assists through 32 games in his junior year.
