Kings Goaltending Depth Gives Them Hope For the Future
When the Los Angeles Kings began the season they had no idea what they were going to get from goaltending but on December 23rd they realized they might have found their true number one goaltender. His name, Jonathan Quick.
It was a cold day in Columbus and the Kings had been feeling the chill as they had been riding a four game losing streak as they arrived in Columbus. That night would be different however as the rookie Quick would provide a hot 3-0 shutout of the Blue Jackets and from that point on Quick has been the main man in Los Angeles.

Kings Goaltender Jonathan Quick Has Been A Pleasant Surprise In Los Angeles
Quick has posted an impressive resume with a record of 17-15-1 with a goals allowed average of 2.63 and a save percentage of 90.7.
Although Jonathan Quick would seem to be the Kings goaltender of the future, let us not forget that the Kings still have former first round pick Jonathan Bernier waiting for his chance in the AHL.
Bernier is having a fair season in the AHL this season with a record of 20-20-2 with a goals allowed average of 2.42 and a save percentage of 91.2. And let us not forget that he was starter for the Kings during the 2007-2008 season opener so he does have NHL experience.

Jonathan Bernier has been solid in the American Hockey League this Season
So what does this mean for the Kings goaltending future? It means great things for the Kings and their fans as the organization has built their team for future success. Having two young and very talented goaltenders is blessing and not a curse, not every team has the benefit of having a Martin Brouder between the pipes every night so it is good have a plethora of goaltending talent.
And the Kings possess this with Quick and Bernier, it is alway a great decision to have players with NHL experience to back up your young and rising star. Quick is getting plenty of time in the NHL to get his feet wet and has provided some great play along the way.
Will Quick over take Bernier as the LA Kings future star goaltender, I am not certain but having the both of them can only benefit the team.
Whether Jonathan Quick or Jonathan Bernier is the Los Angeles Kings goaltender of the future, it is nice to see that the Kings have what it takes to be productive in the near future.

J Quick has been awesome this season. I hope he turns into something special because the US needs a goalie of the future for Team USA.
