The Tampa Bay Lightning have announced that James Wright, selected 117th overall by the Lightning in the 2008 draft, has been signed to an entry level contract.
Wright enjoyed a sucessful season with the WHL’s Vancouver Giants posting 21 goals and 26 assists in 71 games. The Giants post season experience has aided the young forward’s growth allowing him to participate in 37 playoff games, collecting seven goals and eight assists during that time.
When asked about training camp, Wright responded by saying “The whole thing has gone by so fast. Probably because I’m enjoying it so much.” Thus far Wright has recorded two assists and is a plus-2 during pre-season.
Tocchet and the rest of the Lightning coaching staff are impressed with the work ethic of the 6-foot-3 forward and are excited to continue to work with this promising young centre.
