The Toronto Maple Leafs continue to tinker with the lineup as three bodies have been moved in an effort to shake things up.

Jeremy Williams, the potent scorer who has seen time with the Leafs this year, has been sent down to the AHL, while veterans Bates Battaglia and Boyd Devereaux have been recalled.

It is not yet clear whether or not Battaglia and Devereaux will make it to Tampa in time for tonight’s match.

Williams had seven points in eleven games with the Leafs, but suffered through an injury a month or so back, and had problems getting back into the lineup once he was healthy again.

Battaglia and Devereaux spent time with the Maple Leafs big club in the past, including Devereaux, who was with the team for most of last year.

Battaglia is enjoying a fine season with the Marlies, scoring 22 points in 30 games this season.

Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke is hoping that Devereaux and Battaglia can add some toughness and grit to a Leafs team that has too often look disinterested this season.

The two are on re-entry waivers, so the possibility of one or both being claimed is a possibility.

Update on Dmitri Vorobiev

I have gotten a lot of emails and people getting in touch with me this morning regarding a report on a KHL website regarding Maple Leafs prospect defenseman Dmitri Vorobiev.

Upon digging further into the subject, it looks as though the report is legitimate, and Vorobiev is out indefinitely with a heart condition that was discovered after a cardiogram test.  Vorobiev has relocated to Moscow to be evaluated further.  At this point, speculating what the exact injury is and the severity of it would be unprofessional.  All we can really do is wish Dmitri well in a speedy recovery, and give thanks that the people in the KHL are beginning to take the medical procedures more seriously.
