Mark Stone Suspended Two Games

Ottawa Senators forward Mark Stone has been suspended for two games, the Department of Player Safety announced on Monday.

Stone’s suspension is for an illegal hit to the head that took place in Saturday’s loss to the Detroit Red Wings. Stone caught rookie Landon Ferraro up high with a hit. He was assessed a two-minute minor on the play.

Stone has been a key piece of the Senators’ limited success this season, posting three goals and 10 assists through 11 games. The loss of Stone for even these two games is a tough loss for the team.

The blow of losing Stone will be softened some by the return of Mike Hoffman and Curtis Lazar to the lineup on Monday.
