Moldy Wing Dings: It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane! No, It’s Marian Gaborik!

A few years ago, before Dominik Hasek suffered his tenth or twentieth groin injury, the Wings handed the Wild a thumping the likes of which haven’t been seen since, well, the last time the Wings thumped the Wild. I’m just kidding Wild fans; the last time the Wings and Wild met Detroit only won 3-2, and it took a shootout to do it. But I digress.

Anyway, with Detroit up 5-0 in the third with mere minutes to go Wild forward Marian Gaborik was sprung on a breakaway and, much to the delight of the remaining fans in attendance (not to mention Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond, the homers that they are) Hasek slid out to meet Gaborik at the top of the left circle and sent him tumbling end-over-end like a t-shirt fired from one of those hand cannons. Hasek received a tripping penalty for his efforts, and Gaborik suffered the humility of being compared to a cheap cotton knit for the rest of his days.
