Moldy Wing Dings: McCarty Channels Lemieux

I remember watching this happen live on TV and can vividly recall turning to one of my buddies and getting a kick out of the look of absolute shock on his face. No one would have believed that Darren McCarty could have drawn this kind of play up on paper, let alone pull it out if his ass while playing for the Stanley Cup.

I guess that’s why they replayed it so many times, and judging from his own reaction I don’t think McCarty could quite believe he scored himself. Not to take anything away from the guy, but I bet he would have been content to just get a shot on goal.

By the way, do you think Gary Thorne came out of his seat on that one? Good God.
