Most Philadelphia Flyers fans know the organization’s top blueline prospects like they know the back of their hands. Ivan Provorov, Travis Sanheim, and Sam Morin headline the impressive stock of blue-chip defensemen the Flyers have coming through their system. With that being said, it’s only natural that some of the team’s other young defensemen get overlooked, perhaps none more than QMJHL’s Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, Philippe Myers.

Myers is a rather unknown to the average Flyers fan, and rightfully so. He wasn’t a top draft pick like most of the others, in fact, he wasn’t even drafted at all.
Myers was signed by the Flyers this past September after he impressed the Flyers brass on a training camp invite.
Myers’ 2015-16 Breakout
So all Myers did was have his best season of hockey he’s ever had, finishing his third junior season with 17 goals and 48 points while playing on his team’s top defensive pairing.
Improving by leaps and bounds on his previous season that saw him only net 2 goals and 8 points in 60 games, which justifies why he went undrafted.
Myers combines the rare gifts of size and mobility for a defenseman.
Standing at 6’4″ 205 pounds, he is an imposing defenseman with plenty of room to fill out his frame as he continues to develop and get older

A defenseman that possesses size, skill and speed are extremely rare commodities. For the Flyers to be able to add someone like Myers to their already impressive stable of prospects, is simply a case of the rich getting richer.
What’s Next To Come?
Myers is currently battling it out for the CHL Memorial Cup championship after he helped his Huskies win the QMJHL Cup last week.
Myers is gaining invaluable experience by winning his league’s championship and continuing to play in high-pressure games this late into the season.
As a result of his stat line, he has not been one to shine away from the big moments. He currently has 4 goals and 16 points in his 20 playoff games to date.

It is most likely Myers heads back to juniors to play out his last year of eligibility. Due to CHL/AHL restrictions, he’s not eligible for the Phantoms until the 2017-18 season.
