Ranger/Isles preview….

Tonight’s Ranger/Islander game at the “Temple” should be an excellent game in this storied rivalry.

Sure, the Islanders have stunk up the joint the past number of years; leaving writers, pundits and the like grasping for hyperbole to hype the game. But tonight’s affair just might be different.

The Islanders come in having won only one game, but have gone into overtime to lose five of their ten contests. The scrappy bunch is working hard and although outmanned talent-wise, is fighting relentlessly for every inch of ice. There’s no reason to think that tonight’s tilt, with half the building filled with Ranger diehards, that their effort level will be any less.

Add to that the excitement of number overall draft pick, John Tavares’ first appearence against the Blue Shirts and I’m one for sure who cannot wait to see the kids initial foray into the crosstown rivalry!

The Rangers looking to continue their early season dominance…and the Islanders looking to prove that this season could be different.

It should be a loud one in Nassau!
