Rangers Keep on Giving Back to Members of the Community

For those of you that will be up near Astoria, Queens on February 10, there is a place that you will really need to check out. We’ve all see Seinfeld and furthermore know of Al Yeganeh, who is known as “The Original Soup Man” which the now famous “Soup Episode” on Seinfeld was based on. Well, there is a grand opening of his newest restaurant that will share its doors with a Cold Stone Creamery. The date mentiorangers-logoned above is the grand opening for this.

Where this ties in to hockey is that helping them celebrate the grand opening will be a current member of the New York Rangers (identity is yet to be revealed). He will be on hand to help serve soup and ice cream to any customers that happen to be there. “Al’s Feed the Hungry” charity will also be donating $1,500 dollars to the Garden of Dreams Foundation, which specializes in helping area children fulfill their dreams; mainly by organizing group events to Rangers and Knicks games.

The Pulse 87.7 FM will also be there and they will be giving away prizes and merchandise and two lucky customers will have a chance to win a free cup of soup/scoop of ice cream for each day of the rest of their lives.

This is sure to be an extremely fun event and I advise all of you that are able to make it up there to do so. Not often is hockey combined with great food and great people all for one common cause, and that’s helping out the underprivileged members of the community.

The Original Soup Man/Cold Stone Creamery Grand Opening ceremony with a member of the New York Rangers will be held on Tuesday, February 10 at 4:15 PM. The restaurant is located at 3420 Broadway in Astoria Queens.
