On Tuesday night, the Minnesota Wild host the San Jose Sharks at Excel Energy Centre in St. Paul at 5:00pm PDT. See my articles on last week’s preview and recap for more information.
So what is going to different in a week?
For starters, the Sharks loss was their second in a string of four. It was the only game in the streak in which the Sharks earned a point, but it was possibly the most devastating, as they surrendered a three-goal lead they had established through the first 37 minutes of the game.
In addition, there have been personnel changes. Marian Gaborik has returned for Minnesota, and Kurtis Foster is expected back, too. Travis Moen has joined the Sharks, but Rob Blake is not making the trip.
The Wild have played an extra game in the stretch, but have been winning, whereas the Sharks have continued losing. That has put them in a desperate situation, but they have not exhibited the ability of late to translate that need to intensity on the ice.
That is why, with personnel losses for the Sharks and gains for the Wild, the fact that the game is now in Minnesota, and the direction of the teams, I see the Sharks losing their fifth straight, 4-2.
