The St. Louis Blues were founded in 1967 as one of the six teams of the 1967 NHL Expansion and is named after the W. C. Handy song “Saint Louis Blues.” They had immediate success and reached the playoffs nine times in their first 10 seasons, including trips to the Stanley Cup Final in their first three seasons; however, they lost all three appearances. In total, the Blues have been a very successful franchise with 45 playoff appearances in 56 seasons. In 2019, they won their first Stanley Cup against the Boston Bruins.
