With nine games left in the 2008-09 NHL Regular Season, the hopes of the Dallas Stars making the playoffs are fading fast.
Dallas currently sits five points out of the eighth, and final, playoff spot, and are currently in the midst of a 4 game losing streak.
If the Stars have any desire of making the playoffs, they’ll have to do the exact opposite of how they ended the 2007-08 Regular Season, they’ll have to finish win a slew of wins.
Their final schedule gives the Stars four home games, and five games away from Big D.
Dallas will continue to have to try and win without veterans Brenden Morrow, Sergei Zubov, and Brad Richards, who returned from a broken hand only to break the other hand.
If the Stars don’t make the playoffs, the team will need to begin to evaluate whether the lack of a playoff year is due to personnel, coaching, or ultimately the injuries that were the underlying cause.
