Stralman could make debut for CBJ Thursday

Newly acquired defenseman Anton Stralman could make his Blue Jackets debut as soon as Thursday against the San Jose Sharks. He’s not only a puck moving defenseman but a right-handed shot, which Columbus has been lacking. He should see time on the PP as the QB. The quandry for coach Ken Hitchcock is who to scratch. Jan Hejda, Fedor Tyutin and Rusty Klesla are all safe. Call-up Mathieu Roy, in for injured Mike Commodore, has played very well. That leaves Marc Methot or Kris Russell. Methot is not as mobile as Russell is; nor can he QB the power play. My take on this is that Methot sits to make room for Stralman.

Jared Boll, injured by Darcy Hordichuk on Monday, practiced with the team yesterday and Hordichuk was fined $2500 by the NHL for the hit. But with Derek Dorsett and Mike Blunden on the trip, look for the CBJ to sit Boll, at least for the game against the Sharks. Dorsett should get the start on the 4th line in Boll’s place.
