The AHL’s Toronto Marlies, in keeping with their dedication to the community, took to the ice Monday night at the Vic Johnston Community Centre in Streetsville Ontario giving their fans an experience they would not soon forget.
Dallas Eakins’ certainly had the Toronto Marlies firing on all cylinders tonight as they are the first to defeat the Abbotsford Heat, one of two new franchises to the AHL, in regulation time. A 60 minute battle that can not be described any better than “truculent” ended in a score of 3-1 helping the Marlies break a three game win-less streak.
The AHL Toronto Marlies fall victim to a four-goal second period to eventually lose 5-2 to the Rochester Americans in the first game of a home-and-home set with their cross-border rivals. This is the second time in as many games that the Maple Leafs AHL affiliate team has been scored upon four times in the second frame.
