Looking Back On Round 1 As NY Prepare For B’s

It was a frightening first round series for New York Ranger fans. Down 2-0 to start the series, and down 3-2 after a game five OT loss, the Rangers found themselves staring elimination in the face before shutting the Washington Capitals out in back to back games to take the series in seven. It was ...

Capitals and Rangers Head Back to DC, Series Tied 2-2

The final horn sounded at Madison Square Garden last night, New York Rangers fans were on their feet and were acknowledged by the Blue Shirts at center ice with the traditional stick raise after a Rangers victory. Game Four was officially in the books as the New York Rangers defeated the Washington Capitals by a ...

Washington Capitals Player Grades: April 2013

The Washington Capitals first round series against the New York Rangers is off to a thunderous start, with the team from the nation’s capital taking the first two games in D.C. Washington finished off the regular season on fire, giving them momentum heading into the postseason as the third seed. The Hockey Writers grades individual ...

Capitals Take Game One

WASHINGTON, DC- When the Washington Capitals hit the ice for game one of the Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals last night at the Verizon Center in Downtown, DC, it was business as usual for the Red Shirts. A more meaningful flavor perhaps, but another night that the Caps needed to stick to their game plan and execute ...

Washington Capitals vs. New York Rangers: A Series Preview

After earning another Southeast Division title prior to realignment, the Washington Capitals hope they can defeat the sixth seed New York Rangers this time around, unlike last postseason. The Rangers defeated Washington at Madison Square Garden following the Capitals first round victory over the Boston Bruins last postseason. You can view a playoff history between ...

Washington Capitals Clinch Division, Ovechkin Stays Hot

It was the 175th consecutive sell-out crowd at Verizon Center. Everyone in attendance was well aware of what was at stake; if the Washington Capitals knocked off the Winnipeg Jets in any way other than a shootout, the Southeast division crown would be theirs for the fifth time in the last sixth seasons. After getting ...

Ottawa Senators: How the Sens Covered Up the Streaking Capitals

If the Washington Capitals came into Thursday night’s game full on streaking then the Ottawa Senators came into it half-dressed, having won three straight themselves. The contest was a pivotal one for both teams in terms of playoff positioning as they continued their drive towards a postseason berth while trying to fend off the competition. It was also an obvious clash of styles between the high flying Caps and the defensively focused Sens and many wondered which team would be able to assert their game upon the other. When the horn sounded after 60 minutes at Scotia Bank Place the answer was clear.

Who Are 2013′s Los Angeles Kings?

Prior to the 2011-’12 NHL season, the Los Angeles Kings were a sexy pick to win the franchise’s first Stanley Cup. After all, they had gained some playoff experience as the Western Conference’s seventh seed the previous year, they were building around budding superstar Anze Kopitar and, simply put, they looked ready to take the next step. Many predicted 2011-’12 could be the Kings’ year.
