Midseason NHL Awards

The NHL just passed its midway point, and a number of candidates have emerged for each of the major NHL awards. It should be an interesting second half, as teams try to battle for playoff spots and players establish themselves as the best in the league. At this point, it is difficult to say who ...

Which Florida Panthers Should Make the All-Star Game?

Not surprisingly, the NHL All-Star Fan Balloting turned into a popularity contest. With the Ottawa Senators hosting this year’s All-Star game, the hometown team’s fans wanted to see their own players on the ice, and they showed it in voting. Of the six available spots, four went to Ottawa Senators. All three forwards chosen by ...

Panthers mid-season check

Versteeg Goal Here we are 41 games into the season, with 41 games to go. This time last year, I was writing about a team that was in last place in the Southeast. That team was just below the .500 mark and had just given up leads in four of their last five games. That ...

New Jersey Devils Starting To Click Offensively

The Devils completed their two-game Florida road trip last night with a 3-2 shootout win against the Panthers, their fourth win in five games. New Jersey found themselves down 2-0 in the second period, courtesy of Florida’s Kris Versteeeg, but battled back to tie the game on a goal by Zach Parise in the third. ...

Theodore, then a Montreal Canadien, helped his team battle back from a 3-1 deficit against Bruins that included a big Game 7 shutout win in Boston and enough theatrical saves to make Tim Thomas blush. Almost eight years later, Theodore is still giving the Bruins headaches, proven on Thursday night when the Florida Panthers shut-out the Bruins, 2-0.

From Abdelkader to Zuccarello – 22 November 2011

Did you work late last night? Did your significant other make you run errands while the game was on? Did your dog chew off your TV cable wires? Have no fear – THW’s Monica McAlister has your back, covering everything in the hockey world from From Abdelkader to Zuccarello every morning. Check in daily to ...

Florida Panthers – From Worst to First!

After defeating the Winnipeg Jets last night, the Florida Panthers gained two points which moved them in to first place in the Southeast.  Yes, it’s early in the season, but it’s looking more and more like this team has made a major turnaround since finishing last season in last place…not only in the Southeast, ...
