Horrible Officiating Costs Detroit Much Needed Road Win

Marian Hossa watches what should have been the game-tying goal slide past Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller. Instead Detroit finds themselves down 2-1 in the series. (JULIAN H. GONZALEZ/DFP)

As good as he is — and it should be said here that Detroit is making him look much better by blackening the Ducks logo in the middle of Hiller’s jersey — it wasn’t Anaheim Ducks goaltender Jonas Hiller who stopped Detroit from winning game 3, and it wasn’t the defensive play of the Ducks [...]

Maximus vs. Commodus in Philadelphia

Has everyone seen the movie Gladiator? You know the scene where Emperor Commodus stabs Maximus in the side with the dagger before actually challenging him to one on one combat? Remember when Maximus came out and beat up on Commodus even with a stab wound? Remember when Commodus lost his sword and begged for another while his guards ignored him? Then of the gladiator came out and killed Commodus with his own knife before dying. Everyone knows the scene. Anyone who has played the Bruins this season and has been forced to watch a NESN (New England Sports Network) knows Jack Edwards. The ESPN analyst/Bruins play-by-play is well known in the sporting community for things such as ABC’s Wide World of Sports and ESPN’s hockey coverage up until 2003 when the league switched to Versus. Unfortunately for Jack Edwards, who has a resume as a broadcaster that would rival the President’s, many people last night were calling for his job.

Hartnell Calls Out Officiating

hartnell

A recent quote by Flyer winger Scott Hartnell boldly proclaims what many Philadelphians have been thinking for a while. “I think it has a lot to do with the crest we wear on our jerseys, with all our history and stuff like that, but we have to do a better job individually to keep our sticks where they belong.” Hartnell just so happens to lead the team in minor penalties. His claims are very bold.
