Bruins Defencemen And The Ottawa Playbook

After their Game 7 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs, it became apparent that the Boston Bruins would have to roll out a lineup devoid of Dennis Seidenberg, Andrew Ference and Wade Redden once the second round began. Many saw that as a major disadvantage for the Bruins, factoring these injuries in their decision to ...

Bruins Keep Momentum Going with Game 1 Win

On Thursday night, fans were treated to 60+ minutes of hockey between two teams days removed from a grueling seven-game series in the first round of the 2013 NHL postseason. For the first 40 minutes of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, it was pretty obvious that both the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers were feeling the effects of their Game 7s played on Monday night. It was sloppy hockey from two tired teams in a game that seemed to be headed for irrelevancy, surely not to be remembered in playoff folklore for it’s thrilling moments and edge-of-your seat exciting.

Things changed in the third period, but hey, that’s nothing new–especially for the Bruins.

Providence Bruins Stumble through Season’s Opening Month

One month into the 2012-13 AHL season, the Providence Bruins are struggling to gain traction in a league filled with talent-laden rosters from the locked-out NHL. Commencing the 2012-13 season with four losses in six games, the Bruins have dug themselves an early-season hole, currently sitting in last place in the league. During October, ...

Despite Size, Bruins’ Torey Krug Is a Tough Customer

Analyses of Boston Bruins’ prospect, Torey Krug inevitably begin with his stature. At 5’9, Krug must fight every day to prove his mettle while preparing for a league that simply doesn’t have more than a handful of guys playing defense under 5’10. Of course – height is just one piece of the puzzle. The ...

P-Bruins Drop Preseason Game #2 to Bridgeport, 3-1

The Providence Bruins fell 3-1 to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in their second preseason game in two nights. Christian Hanson scored the only goal for the P-Bruins, who engaged in three fights for the second consecutive evening. The night started-off with some significant pugilistic activities. Within four minutes of puck-drop Bobby Robins, Tyler Randell and ...

Boston Bruins Prospects – Fall 2012 Rankings: 10-6

The Boston Bruins own a deep and talented prospect system. In the following rankings, I’ve listed the more than thirty Calder-eligible young men under contract or control of the Bruins’ organization. In this second-to last edition, I’ll count down five of the Bruins top-ten prospects. Because of the system’s depth, I split the rankings into five ...

Boston Bruins’ Future Bright after 2012 Development Camp

The Boston Bruins’ 2012 Development Camp concluded on Monday with the proto-B’s pointing their sticks at the rafters saluting yet another packed house in Wilmington. The five-day event prompted significant interest despite the absence of a new top-ten pick for the first time since 2009. All thanks to Brian Burke aside, the new Bruin properties ...

Chiarelli’s complacency in free agency could further harm the Bruins power-play

Since July 1, 27 out of the 30 NHL teams have signed new players to their roster via free agency.

Out of the remaining three, the Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings kept their team intact and re-signed pivotal playoff performer, Dustin Penner while the Edmonton Oilers added some key parts prior to July 1 by signing Justin Schultz and drafting Nail Yakupov first overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

The Boston Bruins, on the other hand, have been entirely inactive.

But is the reliance on the current roster going to eventually harm the Bruins along with their biggest downfall last season: the power-play?
