Team Sweden Names Final World Cup Roster

The Swedish Ice Hockey Association announced today its final, 23-man roster for the World Cup of Hockey 2016, adding seven to the first 16 chosen in March.

Among them are forwards Carl Hagelin and Patric Hornqvist of the Pittsburgh Penguins, who advanced to the Stanley Cup finals by defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning last night in game seven of the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Swedes added one goalie, Robin Lehner of the Buffalo Sabres, and one defenseman, Mattias Ekholm of the Nashville Predators, along with four forwards.

Team Sweden made it to the quarterfinals in the recent IIHF World Championships from Russia, before losing to the eventual gold medal winners Canada.
