THW Live: Damien Cox and a Maple Leafs Life

Long-time Toronto Star reporter and columnist Damien Cox (@DamoSpin) is our special guest on the The Hockey Writers Live podcast this week.

Cox discusses his career with Canada’s largest daily newspaper, his memories of covering the Toronto Maple Leafs and some of his favorite Leafs, Pat Burns and Doug Gilmour among them. We also break down the current state of the rejuvenated Maple Leafs as well as the Star’s latest publication: 100 Years in Blue and White: A Century of Hockey in Toronto.

The book is available now on Amazon, the Toronto Star web site, and at local book stores.

That’s Not (H)All

Brandon Share Cohen (@BShareCohen) from The Hockey Writers staff also joins me to analyze the Taylor Hall hit Tuesday night in New Jersey which knocked out Canucks defenseman Philip Larsen.

Was it clean? Was it illegal? Was it just plain unfortunate? Come find out what Brandon and I both think.

In addition Brandon shares his thoughts about the Western Conference-leading Chicago Blackhawks, who find themselves without stalwarts Jonathan Toews, Corey Crawford and Brent Seabrook in the lineup.

Capsizing

Finally, Sammi Silber (@SammiSilber) from The Hockey Writers comes aboard this week to talk all things Washington Capitals, from power play struggles to dispassionate play to a possible Presidents Trophy hangover.

Make sure to tune in to Sammi’s spot as she shares her faith in struggling forward Justin Williams, and then Williams goes out and scores twice the very same day!!
