Andre Burakovsky: Washington’s top draft pick currently sits 19th in OHL scoring with 12 points.

Chandler Stephenson: Had a four game goal streak from September 21st to 28th (five points) and currently has a five game assist streak (seven assists), starting on October 4th.

Jaynen Rissling: This Capitals defensive prospect was named Captain of the Calgary Hitmen earlier this season.

“It didn’t come as much of a surprise,” Rissling told the Calgary Herald “I’ve paid my dues. But it’s always nice to get the recognition, to know the coaching staff has that kind of confidence in you, that all the work they put into making you a better player has paid off.

“This’ll be my fifth year here. My fifth year with the same coaching staff, same management. I know what the drill is. I know what they want and what’s expected of us. So you’re just kind of relaying that to the other players and I’m pretty confident I’ll be able to do a great job at that.

NCAA

Riley Barber: The Capitals sixth round pick from the 2012 NHL entry draft is off to a blazing spot to his sophomore year at Miami University of Ohio. He scored four goals in Miami’s 6-3 win over rival Ohio State on Saturday, the RedHawks’ home opener.

Barber was named National Collegiate Hockey Conference Offensive player of the week. He was the first RedHawk player to record four goals in a game since December 11, 2009.

Riley has developed chemistry with forward Austin Czarnik, something that developed during their freshman season last year.

“It’s carrying over from last year,” said Czarnik in a press conference last weekend following a home win over Ohio State. “We know where each other are on the ice, so I think it’s huge for us.
