This was the chant the crowd erupted into after the 9th goal of the evening where ten goals very well could have happened as San Jose was on a power play for the remainder of the third. 9-1 was the final in and exciting game that had the Sharks with eight different goal scorers and 14 players getting points.   This feat marked a franchise record for the Sharks.  San Jose out shot the Flames 46-22, 34 of those first shots tallied 6 goals and had Calgary sit their star goal tender and former Shark, Mikka Kiprusoff.

Off the Schneid” was the quote of the night quipped after a Sharks player, that was in a scoring drought, found the net from color broadcasters Randy Hahn and Drew Remenda.  One of these few was Jed Ortmeyer that hadn’t scored a goal since November 14 at St. Louis, he added two assists for a 3 point night.  Others “Off the Schneid” were Scott Nichol (Nov. 17), Manny Malhotra (Dec. 9), Ryane Clowe (Dec. 30), Joe Pavelski  (Dec. 30), and Rob Blake (Dec. 11)

Many of the Sharks had multiple points for the night.  To no ones surprise Dany Heatley potted two, one in the 2nd period and one in the 3rd.  There were only 4 players that didn’t get points, as many jokingly said “Even coach McLellan had an assist.”  Pavelski had the most points of the evening with a goal and 3 assists.  Clearly making it evident why he was chosen for Team USA.

SJS: J. Pavelski (04:07 – 1st) , M. Malhotra (06:20 – 1st) , S. Nichol (14:34 – 1st) , J. Ortmeyer (12:36 – 2nd) , D. Heatley (PPG, 16:49 – 2nd) , R. Clowe (18:36 – 2nd) , D. Setoguchi (04:48 – 3rd) , R. Blake (PPG, 14:06 – 3rd) , D. Heatley (14:39 – 3rd)

The way San Jose played last night is how they should play every night.  They came out skating, putting pressure on quick, and scoring early.  They never really let off the gas and shut down the Flames offense and defense.  It was a full 60 minute effort that payed off.  The new line combination’s have made for a very aggressive  Sharks team.  Moving Malhotra to the 2nd and Clowe to the 3rd has complemented these lines greatly adding grit and 2 way playing ability.  Torrey Mitchell got into a scrap in the 3rd after he was elbowed in the face, looks like his line mates Brad Staubitz (that fought earlier in the game) and Jody Shelley are rubbing off on him.

If the Sharks keep up this pace they will no doubt advance in the playoffs this season.   Instead of relying on the top line to win the games it was a huge team effort.  They are going to have to play equally as hard tonight as they face, for the last time this season, the LA Kings.  Look for this final match up to be a defensive battle as the Sharks try to go .500 against their Pacific Division rival.
