Not very many things have gone the Ducks way this season as they sit second to last in the western conference. When things are going as bad as they are right now for the Ducks it is only natural to look forward to the future. This morning the Ducks called up Kyle Palmieri from the minors. I have been looking forward to seeing him with the Ducks all year now. Palmieri leads the entire AHL this season so far with 17 goals. What makes that stat a little more impressive is that he has done that in 18 games which is 8 games less than some of his competition. He missed a few games earlier in the season with a minor hip injury but seems to have fully recovered and has been playing very well lately. Another thing I like a lot about Palmieri besides his goal scoring ability is that although only 5’11” he plays a very aggressive style. He isn’t afraid to get dirty or put hits on players with more size than him. Last season Palmieri had a small taste of the NHL playing 10 games but only scored 1 goal which came in his NHL debut. Palmieri will make his season debut with the Ducks tomorrow night against Nashville, and I am sure there will be a lot of people including myself watching him closely to see how he does. I am hoping that he sticks around and puts in a good enough performance to finish up the season in the NHL, and secure a spot for the next season.
