MONTREAL, PQ – You heard it correctly, the Boston Pizza chain has decided to change the names of several of its Quebec-based restaurants to ‘Montreal Pizza’ just in time for the playoffs.
As if this rivalry wasn’t heated enough, this little bit of fun will surely add some humor and flame to the fire.
“We’ve had this idea for some time, but we were waiting for the ideal moment to do justice to the intelligence of the concept,” Carl Pichette, director of marketing for the restaurant chain in Quebec told Marketing Magazine. “The sport is a veritable passion for the franchisees, the company and our guests. For us, it was perfectly natural to play with our logo in order to surprise and, above all, show that we are proud supporters.”
The restaurant hopes to bring Canadiens fans to their sports bar to take in the first round series, which begins tonight at 7 p.m. in Boston.
The game can be viewed on CBC or RDS.
