Columbus, OH –

33 seconds was all it took for the Detroit Red Wings to get on the scoreboard. After an errant pass in the neutral zone by the Columbus Blue Jackets Grant Clitsome, Darren Helm skated the puck into the zone before dishing off to Drew Miller, who promptly put it past Steve Mason.
The Blue Jackets would try to pull even, but at 11:23 of the 1st period a blown coverage behind the net would lead to Valterri Filppula kocking the puck home to make it 2-0 Detroit. And there it would remain for the rest of the game.
“I didn’t like our start obviously,” said Columbus head coach Scott Arniel, “terrible start against a team that played last night. We had more than our share of opportunities to at least get one goal. We had opportunites and just weren’t crisp. We didn’t execute the way we should have tonight.”
