NHL Playoff Coverage
Boston Bruins 3 Philadelphia Flyers 2 (OT) Bruins lead series 2-0
The Flyers put 54 shots on Tim Thomas but it would not be enough to even up the series at home before they head to Boston for games three and four.
Philadelphia took the early lead in the game as James van Riemsdyk scored after a mere 29 seconds had ticked off of the clock. Flyers would immediately get a power play chance as Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas put the puck over the glass; but the Flyers failed to increase their lead to two in under a minute in the game.
A holding penalty to Bruins Gregory Campbell would lead to the Flyers getting their 2-0 lead as Riemsdyk would score on the power play just over nine and a half minutes into the game; and it would be the last time the Flyers got the puck past Thomas.
Chris Kelly would cut the Flyers lead in half as he netted a wrist shot just shy of the thirteen minute mark in the opening period; and Brad Marchand would tie the game shortly after the Kelly goal.
Late in the first Bruin’s Adam McQuaid went into put a check on Flyers captain Mike Richards and missed putting himself into end boards head first:
The teams would remain tied at two for the next two period and head into extra time.
It would take exactly fourteen minute of extra time for David Krejci to put a snap shot past Brian Boucher for Boston to take the 2-0 lead in the series in Philadelphia.
Game three is tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. EST in Boston on Versus, CBC, and RIS
