Yesterday the Montreal Canadiens announced that Defenseman Nathan Beaulieu has been assigned to the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL.
Beaulieu was the Canadiens 17th overall pick in this years 2011 NHL Entry Draft in Minnesota. He was selected 68th overall in the fourth round of the 2008 QMJHL Entry Draft.
The 6-foot-3, 191 pound, offencive defenseman, recorded 12 goals and 45 points in 65 games last season for the Sea Dogs. In the 2011 post-season, Beaulieu scored another 4 goals and 17 points while helping Saint John to their first QMJHL and Memorial Cup title in franchise history.
Beaulieu, a native of Strathroy, Ontario, is son of Sarnia Sting(OHL) coach and general managar Jacques Beaulieu. Nathan`s father was GM of the Sea Dogs in 2008 and selected the young defenceman in the 2008 Q League Draft .
*Montreal also assigned Drummondville Voltigeurs forward Olivier Archambault and Cape Breton Screaming Eagles defenseman Morgan Ellis to their respective QMJHL teams.
