LOS ANGELES- With the Los Angeles Kings dropping nine of their last eleven contests, many hockey fans are wondering about the team’s immediate moves and future foundation.
While it remains to be seen if any major shakeup will transpire this season, followers of the Kings can rest assured that the recent extension of Jack Johnson and a bundle of manageable contracts ensure that the team will have plenty of opportunities to attract, retain and integrate talent in the years to come.
Johnson’s extension locked down a building block. His rather reasonable cap number–roughly $4.35 million according to numerous reports and CapGeek.com–gave the Kings increased flexibility and occasion to talk about the future with Johnson and their other young, core players.
Murray described Johnson’s development as progressing with each passing month. He also touched on another restricted free agent to be, the 21-year-old 2010 Norris Trophy nominee Drew Doughty.
