In an effort to try and add more gritty players to the line up the Minnesota Wild have signed the newly acqired Brad Staubitz to a two-year, $1.15 million contract.
In 47 games with the San Jose Sharks Staubitz had three goals, three asist and 110 penalty minutes this past season. The Wild gave up their 5th round pick of the 2010 NHL Draft to obtain the rights to talk with the Restricted Free Agent.
At 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds the 25 year old Edmonton, Alberta native is projected to make $550,000 this seaon and $600,000 next season.
Known to take on the fighter role on the team I think it is save to say that the signing of Staubitz is the signaling the end of Derek Boogaard as part of the Wild.
