Rankings

When on his game, Conrad Fondrk can be a major difference-maker. He has plenty of tools to make an impact at the next level. His hard-working mentality leads his game, helping make him a strong two-way player for the United States Developmental Program this season. One of the biggest flaws of his game seems to be his consistency and up-and-down motor at times. But overall, his game translates well in all three zones of the ice, as he fills in defensively to help support his teammates, both in the defensive and neutral zones.

Regarding his overall defensive game, Fondrk has shown a strong capability of finding passing lanes to get into, breaking up passes or play attempts by his opponents. His reach helps in doing this, as he uses his 6-foot frame to his advantage.

Offensively, Fondrk uses his body with the puck on his stick. He is strong enough to protect the puck and shield off defenders to make his way to the net for a scoring chance. With that being said, he needs to add some muscle to his frame if he wants to continue doing that at the next level. With his size working in his favor, there is a good chance he can develop into an efficient player in the slot, using a strong shot and his body to generate offense. An area where his offensive game needs some development and work is his shooting accuracy. Fondrk possesses a heavy shot, but picking his spots when he fires the puck will go a long way toward becoming a more impactful player.

Conrad Fondrk – NHL Draft Projection

Fondrk’s game does project well to the next level, but being a bit up-and-down with his game overall will likely lead to him being selected in the mid-second round of this year’s draft.

Quotables

“He’s a bit small and slender…. but he showed a willingness to try creative plays and blended skill and mental processing that was above the others on the team. He’s quick to turn out of pressure, he’s masterful in transition, and moves pucks to scoring areas with relative ease.”- Austin Garret, SMAHT Scouting

“While he doesn’t play hard consistently, in the moments he engaged on the puck as a forechecker, he was highly efficient. With the puck on his stick, he showcased his intelligence as a passer, keeping plays simple and extending possessions. Although he doesn’t often push the puck into high-danger areas, when he does, especially as a passer, he can make teams pay.”- Kyle Pereira, Future Considerations
