Devils’ Jesper Bratt Earns 500th NHL Point

Wednesday night marked an important contest for the New Jersey Devils. Not only did they defeat their Hudson River rivals, the New York Rangers, for a 6-3 win, but it also set the stage for Jesper Bratt’s 500th career NHL point.

He reached this accomplishment in the first period, with the secondary assist on Nico Hischier’s game-tying power-play goal. Then, Bratt scored a goal of his own with less than four minutes left in the third period. With 12 points in his last nine games, Bratt has been a catalyst during the home stretch of the season.

Leading the team in both points (54) and assists (38), his skills have been invaluable while the Devils attempt to work toward consistency. Based on data from NHL Edge, Bratt ranks in the 92nd percentile in offensive zone time. Likewise, he’s on the ice for an average of 42.45 scoring chances and 3.62 goals every 60 minutes, per Natural Stat Trick.

It’s undeniable that Bratt is a crucial part of the Devils’ top-six forward group. He’s been one of their most offensively consistent players, especially while the team dealt with countless injuries. This season, he’s currently on pace for 65 points, with 14 games still at hand.

Even though the Devils are out of the running for a postseason slot, they still have the opportunity to end the season on a high note. With a 7-3-0 record in their last 10 games, it seems that there are brighter things ahead. And Bratt will remain on the front lines while the team strives for success.
