Shenae Lundberg Extends With Whale

Goaltender Shenae Lundberg has inked a new contract with the Connecticut Whale for the 2016-17 season, the team announced Friday. She’s been put on a one-year, $15,000 deal.

Lundberg started last season with the New York Riveters and was a part of the first and only active player trade in NWHL history, moving over to the Whale midseason.

She grabbed just a single game with the Rivs prior to the trade and then played a pair for the Whale, finishing the season with a .902 save percentage and a 2.67 goals-against average.

“Last year’s team was able to create a great team atmosphere, which I was blessed to become a part of,” said Lundberg in the team’s announcement. “I think that the girls returning, along with myself, will be able to continue that tradition and show the newbies how to be a part of a great organization.”

“That, along with the new talent that will be coming on board, will allow us to do even better in the season and go even further in the playoffs,” she continued. “Fins up.”

NWHL free agency started on May 1 and lasts until July 31.
