The Detroit Red Wings will be without veteran forward Brad Richards, the team announced on Friday.
Richards will miss Friday’s game against the Calgary Flames with a lower body injury, according to the team’s Twitter account. However, MLive’s Ansar Khan tweeted that coach Jeff Blashill said it’s a back injury — is the back “lower body”? — and Richards is considered day-to-day.
To add a wrinkle to that report, Helene St. James reports that GM Ken Holland indicated that the injury “is longer than day-to-day.” The team has sent Richards back to Detroit for tests.
This season, Richards has put up two assists through six games in his first year with the Red Wings.
