In 1978, the team merged with the Cleveland Barons due to financial struggles in a move that proved successful as they reached two Stanley Cup Finals. However, between the 1992-93 and 1993-94 seasons, the team relocated to Dallas to become the Stars after years of attendance issues. Following the move, the Stars found success and won the 1999 Stanley Cup in their sixth season in Dallas. They followed that up with Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2000.
