The Seattle Kraken just wrapped up their games for February and are about to head into the last full month of the 2025-26 NHL season. Seattle will play 23 more games over the next month and a half, with 14 coming in March. There is plenty to address from the last several days before we get into the nitty-gritty of the March games. Here’s the latest edition of the Kraken News & Rumors.
Kraken Sign Evers
On March 1, the Kraken signed forward Ryden Evers to a three-year entry-level contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $1.075 million. Not to be confused with defenseman Ryker Evans, Evers currently plays in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Penticton Vees. He currently has 69 points in 60 games.
When speaking on Evers, general manager Jason Botterill stated, “We’re excited to have Ryden join our organization. His development has continued to improve over the years, turning him into a responsible two-way center that brings size and skill to the group.”
Evers won’t join the team until the 2026-27 season and will finish out the current one in the WHL. Seattle continues to pick up great young talent, and Evers is no exception.
Kartye Picked Up Off Waivers
On Feb. 26, the Kraken placed forward Tye Kartye on waivers. They had to decide who to keep on the roster between him, Jacob Melanson, and Ben Meyers, now that the team was getting healthy again. They just took Berkly Catton and Meyers off injured reserve (IR) when they returned from break, and Seattle had to make a tough decision on who to keep.

Although Kartye hasn’t had a strong performance in the 2025-26 season, one must not forget his start in the league. His first NHL game was a Kraken playoff game on April 26, 2023, where he also scored his first goal. He played a total of 10 postseason games with the Kraken and recorded five points. This season, though, he played 40 games and recorded eight points with Seattle.
Kartye was picked up off waivers by the New York Rangers on Feb. 27. He didn’t clear and get sent down to the American Hockey League (AHL); instead, he went across the country. He already played his first game with New York on Feb. 28, when the Rangers hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins. He logged a total of 12:39 on the ice across 17 shifts. The Kraken also played on this day, and after morning skate, they turned on the game to watch their former teammate play, taking notice of Kartye whenever he was on the ice.
Wishing Kartye the best of luck in New York.
Trade Deadline Is March 6
As mentioned above, the Kraken are already making moves by waiving Kartye. The trade deadline is fast approaching, as it is this Friday, March 6. The Kraken have often been in the rumor mill, with mentions of Shane Wright and Jamie Oleksiak as the big names that could be traded.

The Kraken are searching for someone to bolster their forward group, someone who is a consistent scoring threat. Wright was almost moved to the Rangers for Artemi Panarin, but he stated he had no interest in going to Seattle and instead was traded to the Los Angeles Kings.
Seattle is clinging to their playoff spot by the skin of their teeth, and the Kraken will look to add talent to make sure they can have a postseason run this season. There is still plenty of stuff that is still up in the air, but one thing is certain: we will have answers by Friday.
Kraken Milestones Are Rolling In
As for the players still with the Kraken, two players reached milestone moments in their last game. Vince Dunn celebrated his 600th NHL game and kicked it off in a big way by opening the scoring between the Kraken and Vancouver Canucks. In this same game, Adam Larsson recorded his 200th NHL assist.
Larsson has another huge milestone coming up that he should reach this month, provided he stays healthy: his 1,000th NHL game. He would mark the second player to celebrate this achievement with the Kraken, as Jordan Eberle received his silver stick in the 2023-24 season.
Players close to milestones:
- Eeli Tolvanen: nine away from 100th goal, six away from 100th assist
- Cale Fleury: six games away from 100th
- Adam Larsson: 11 games away from 1,000th
- Ryan Lindgren: five assists away from 100th
- Brandon Montour: nine goals away from 100th
- Philipp Grubauer: seven games away from 400th
