Sharks Week That Was – Game Results, Playoff Picture, Injury Report

The past seven days (March 13–20, 2026) have been a roller coaster for the San Jose Sharks. While the team celebrated individual milestones and key contract extensions, a grueling schedule and a scary injury have stalled their momentum in a high-stakes playoff race.

Game Results: Mar. 13 – Mar. 20, 2026

Standings & Playoff Picture

The Sharks entered the week on the bubble and unfortunately slid backward. After a three-game losing streak, their record stands at 32–29–6 (70 points). They currently sit in 6th place in the Pacific Division. They are trailing the Seattle Kraken (71 pts), Los Angeles Kings (72 pts), and Vegas Golden Knights (76 pts).

Per BetMGM, the Sharks’ odds to make the playoffs are currently +140, while they are -170 to miss. They are effectively in a “must-win” mode for the remaining 15 games. While a playoff berth is still mathematically viable, their recent defensive struggles (allowing 17 goals in the last three games) have dropped their Cup contender status to “long shot.”

Injuries & IR

The Sharks’ depth is being tested as they head into the final stretch of the season. Based on the latest reports from CBS Sports, here is the current injury and injured reserve (IR) status for the Sharks as of March 20, 2026.

In Case You Missed It…

The Igor Chernyshov Injury: The most significant story was the frightening injury to rookie Igor Chernyshov on March 14. During the first period against Montreal, Chernyshov took a hit from Mike Matheson, resulting in a visible head injury and hospitalization. He has since been diagnosed with a concussion.

Core Extensions: General manager Mike Grier solidified the roster for the future, signing goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic (two years, $6 million) on March 6 and forward Ty Dellandrea (two-year extension) on March 13.
