Rankings

Viktor Fyodorov’s name has long been in scouts’ notebooks, and now he will enter another chapter of his career with the upcoming 2026 NHL Draft. He’s had a nice season, with his first points in the Kontinental Hockey League, and many games played in pro leagues, with 32 games in the Russian second league with Torpedo’s farm team. However, he didn’t leave a strong impression, scoring only a combined three goals in 45 pro games this season. Granted, his time on the ice was limited; there were higher expectations for him.

Fyodorov showed some progress, but somewhat lacked signs of elite offensive potential, despite being highly touted in his predraft years. However, he has also shown some interesting traits in his game, like a resilient approach, decent playmaking skills, and hard work through all three zones. At this point, he’s not likely to become an offensive dynamo in the NHL, but he has some intangibles that coaches will like.

Fyodorov is the type of player who can make it to the more demanding NHL environment through hard work, attention to the game plan, and resilience rather than pure skill. An interesting two-way player, Fyodorov still has all the tools to make it to the NHL one day, but he will need to work hard and be patient. The lack of exposure could hurt him a bit in the selection days.

Viktor Fyodorov – NHL Draft Projection

Fyodorov is expected to be a mid-round pick at this year’s draft. While he showcased interesting intangibles and hard work on the ice, he lacks offensive potential and general impact on the game. He needs to grow, improve his game, work on his skating, and become a more mature two-way player.

Quotables

“Off puck, he stays connected, arrives early to space, and supports exits through the middle. Versus men in the VHL, he handled pace, though heavy traffic still knocks him off plan at times, and he can be early on entries without a delay option. Continued reps against pros should sharpen under-pressure poise and blue-line deception. He’s a skilled playmaker with a powerful shot and elite speed and hands, making him a threat in transition.” – HockeyWiz777

“A tactician in the offensive zone, weaving between opponents and working off his teammates to move the puck and open chances. Can make even-strength shifts feel like power-plays, with sustained offense and multiple shots. Plays through the physical game, but doesn’t match it. Still an exciting playmaker whose abilities have stood up to KHL defenses.” – Gabriel Foley

Strengths

  • Relentless motor and great attitude
  • Strong playmaking skills, loves a nice pass
  • Despite his size, he can play physically

Under Construction/Improvements to Make

  • Hasn’t progressed as anticipated, despite showing some interesting skills
  • Seems to be lacking top offensive potential

NHL Potential

Fyodorov is an interesting project who can develop into a solid two-way player with fine playmaking skills. The problem is that he will most likely lack both the size needed to play such a role in the NHL or the offensive potential to play in the top-six. However, there is a lot of space for improvement.
