Jets’ Kupari Out At Least a Week Due to Concussion Protocol

Winnipeg Jets’ forward Rasmus Kupari will be out at least a week due to concussion protocol, as per head coach Scott Arniel.

Kupari suffered the suspected concussion in the third period of Tuesday’s 3-2 loss to the New York Islanders. After being checked by Hudson Fasching in the neutral zone, he appeared to hit his head on the boards.

“Seven days. Wait it out and see how it goes. He’s on the bike today. Said he’s feeling a lot better but obviously have to go through that,” Arniel said Thursday morning in Philadelphia.

Kupari, 24, has played 58 games this season in a bottom-six centre role, scoring five goals and adding three assists for eight points while also seeing time on the penalty kill.

David Gustafsson will draw into the lineup as fourth-line centre in Kupari’s absence. The Jets will attempt to snap a three-game losing streak tonight against the Flyers in the second game of their four-game Eastern road trip.
